Broadband Internet and Cognitive Functioning*

We empirically examine the impact of high‐speed internet access on cognitive functioning using data from Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia survey crystallised fluid intelligence measures. Leveraging differences National Broadband Network rollout across Australia, we find that causes a decline effects are mediated by social capital moderated age gender. Although no overall effect was observed, noted young adults. These findings underline nuanced influence different aspects function.
